Jun 27, 2008 Aggies crown three All-Americans
LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 27) – This year was an outstanding year all around for the Cameron Aggies, who saw a number of student-athletes be named to All-Conference and All-Region teams. With the 2007-2008 athletic season now completely over, the All-America teams for numerous spring sports have been announced and now CU can add three All-American athletes to the long list of accolades this season.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 27) – In just three seasons of existence, the Cameron Aggie cross country team and head coach Matt Aguero have gone from a startup program to a legitimate contender for the Lone Star Conference Championship. Today’s announcement of the 2008-2009 recruiting class may complete the foundation CU needs to win a number of meets in the very near future.
Jun 27, 2008 Smedley adds Texas outside-hitter duo
LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 27) – Aggie volleyball head coach Brianne Smedley this week revealed the signing of two talented outside hitters from Texas, in a move that all but completes her 2008 roster. Fresh out of high school, Cameron’s newest additions are Adrienne Lawson of The Colony, and GraShawna (Shawna) Briscoe of Duncanville. Both players are offensive standouts on the outside, although Briscoe also plays as right-side hitter.
Jun 26, 2008 UCF's Watson to coach CU softball
LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 26) – Cameron University Athletic Director Jim Jackson today filled the final Aggie head coaching vacancy as he tabbed Beth Watson as CU’s new softball skipper. Watson comes from the University of Central Florida (Orlando) where she has been the first assistant coach for the last seven years, ever since UCF instituted the program. She begins work for the Aggies in mid-July.
Jun 16, 2008 ECU's Alexander chosen to lead Aggies
LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 16) – Wade Alexander, the assistant men’s basketball coach at East Central University (Ada, Oklahoma), a fellow Lone Star Conference school, was officially announced as the new head men’s basketball coach at Cameron University this morning. CU Athletic Director Jim Jackson has finalized the hiring and Alexander has already begun his duties at CU.
May 22, 2008 Webb signs trio to Aggie squad
LAWTON, Oklahoma (May 22) – Cameron University’s new women’s basketball head coach Tom Webb today announced the signing of three student-athletes to the 2008-2009 Aggie squad. In his first round of signings, Webb has added Tera Tremaye, Amber Schroer, and Lawton-native Gabby Walk. Tremaye and Schroer will enter next fall as juniors, while Walk will be a freshman.
May 19, 2008 Aggie Volleyball adds T&T standout
LAWTON, Oklahoma (May 19) – The Cameron University volleyball program and head coach Brianne Smedley today announced the official signing of Nikita Abbott, a star outside hitter from the country of Trinidad and Tobago. Abbott is coming to CU directly from Tunapuna Government Secondary School in her home country, and will join the Aggies later this summer in preparation for the 2008 season. This is the first official signing for the Cameron volleyball team this offseason.
May 17, 2008 Svajlen finishes 64th at Nationals
HOUSTON, Texas (May 17) – The fourth and final round of the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championship men’s golf tournament wrapped up this afternoon at the Memorial Golf Course in Houston, Texas. Cameron’s lone representative in the event was junior Peter Svajlen, a native of Bratislava, Slovakia. Svajlen finished the event in a tie at 64th place with an overall score of 293 (74-78-71-70, +13).
May 14, 2008 Aggies end super season at Nationals
HOUSTON, Texas (May 14) – The fabulous season of the nationally-ranked #7 Cameron men’s tennis team (21-4) unfortunately came to a close this afternoon in the “Sweet 16” round of the NCAA National Championship tournament. The Aggies fell 5-4 to the nationally-ranked #19 Patriots of Francis Marion University (South Carolina) for just their fourth loss of the season. CU now returns home to Lawton with their season over, while FMU moves on to the “Elite Eight” round.
May 14, 2008 CU in "Sweet 16" Helvey wins C.O.Y.
HOUSTON, Texas (May 14) – At Tuesday night’s annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awards ceremony, the nationally ranked #7 Cameron Aggie men’s tennis team (21-3) was given a few very impressive awards. CU’s two recipients on the night were head coach James Helvey and junior Daniel Pazos. The awards ceremony was held to coincide with Wednesday’s start of the final rounds at the NCAA National tennis tournament, which is being held in Houston, Texas, this year.
