Women's Soccer: Postseason awards announced

Four teams had more than seven players honored on the All-Lone Star Conference women's soccer teams announced Thursday evening during a banquet at the LSC Championship in Canyon, Texas.

      Central Oklahoma, the LSC runner-up, led the way with 10 selections including one first-team, four second-team and five honorable mention nods.  Abilene Christian had nine honorees with one first-teamer, and four each on the second team and honorable mention teams.

      LSC regular season champion West Texas A&M had seven picks with a league-high five first-team choices and one second-teamer and one honorable mention.  Midwestern State also had seven selections with three first-teamers, one second-teamer and three honorable mentions.

      Texas A&M-Commerce added two first-team recipients and Texas Woman's one to round out the 13-person team.

      A&M-C's Meagan Lasley earned Offensive Player of the Year acclaim.

TWU's Nori Morgan was Goalkeeper of the Year, while Defensive Player of the Year accolades were shared by UCO's Alli Miller and WTAMU's Kayla Sisco.  The Bronchos Brittni Walker was named Freshman of the Year, while Southwestern Oklahoma's Mark Persson was tabbed Coach of the Year after a successful first season with the Bulldogs.

      On the first team were WTAMU's Nadia James, Sisco, Lindsay McHorse, Miriam Dominguez and Adi Stein, UCO's Miller, ACU's Lyndsey Womack, MSU's Katherine Bernick, Kelsey Hill and Kari Bristow, A&M-C's Lasley and Devon Herrman and TWU's Morgan.

      Altogether, 56 student-athletes were recognized with the all-conference honors program, including at least one player from all 11 women's soccer teams in the league.
