Richardson, Texas - Abilene Christian advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II South Central Region championship after a 5-0 win over Angelo State on Thursday in Austin, Texas.

Andrea Carpenter scored two goals and Ashley Holton added a goal and an assist as ACU claimed the first NCAA postseason victory in program history.

The Wildcats will play top seed and host St. Edward’s in the second round on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Midwestern State lost 3-1 to Truman on Thursday in Warrensburg, Mo., in the first round of the NCAA regional.

Seniors Kendra Clemons, Brandy O'Neal, Brittany Subia and Jordan Smith completed a stellar four-year career by helping the Mustangs to 55 wins and a Lone Star Conference regular season championship this season culminating in the program's first NCAA postseason appearance.
