Nearly 70 baseball stars were honored Friday night as the
league’s annual baseball postseason awards were announced at
the championship banquet held prior to the start of the Lone Star
Conference baseball championship in Abilene, Texas.
Those recognized included five first-team choices
for LSC regular season champion Abilene Christian.
A total of 65 student-athletes were recognized by
the all-conference program, including at least one player from each
of the 12 baseball teams in the LSC. The awards are voted
upon by the league coaches.
ACU's Aaron Oliver earned Player of the Year
honors, while Southeastern Oklahoma’s Heath Wyatt claimed
Pitcher of the Year acclaim. Southwestern Oklahoma’s
Michael Felton was tabbed Freshman of the Year, while the Wildcats
Britt Bonneau was named Coach of the Year.
ACU had eight total picks with five first-team
picks and three second-teamers. Tarleton State had five
selections which were all on the second team, while five teams
– SE, Cameron, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Angelo State and
West Texas A&M – each had four representatives.
