Nearly 80 softball stars were honored
Thursday as the Lone Star Conference postseason awards were
announced by league officials at the championship banquet.
LSC North Division champion
Midwestern State placed three players on the All-LSC North Division
first team, while LSC South Division champion West Texas A&M
had four All-LSC South first-teamers.
Overall 78 student-athletes were
recognized by the all-conference program, including at least one
player from each of the 14 LSC softball teams. The awards are
voted upon by the league coaches in each division.
MSU, which won the North with a
20-2 record, was represented on the All-LSC North first team by
pitcher Katie Petersen, catcher Lauren Craig and outfielder Elena
Bennett.

In addition, Craig was tabbed LSC
North Player of the Year, Petersen was the LSC North Pitcher of the
Year, and Brady Tigert was named Coach of the Year for the
Mustangs.
Central Oklahoma’s Kacie
Edwards and Southwestern Oklahoma’s Tori Joyner shared LSC
North Freshman of the Year honors, while East Central’s Wanda
Malone earned Newcomer of the Year acclaim.
WTAMU won the South division for
the first time ever with a 14-4 mark. The Lady Buffs put
first baseman Kaitlyn Witte, shortstop Amber Farr and outfielders
Kim LeComte and Kasey Henderson on the first team.
Also, LeComte was LSC South
Player of the Year, Sarah Blair claimed Newcomer of the Year
accolades and Kevin Blaskowski picked up Coach of the Year
recognition for WTAMU.
Texas Woman’s Carly Case
was Pitcher of the Year, while Angelo State’s Kacie Easley
was Freshman of the Year.
