Lone Star Conference regular season champion West Texas A&M had three first-team selections on the All-LSC volleyball team announced by league officials Wednesday evening at the LSC Championship banquet.
WTAMU, which posted a 19-1 league record and is hosting the LSC Championship that starts tomorrow, had a total of six honorees. Lacy Hayes, Erin Dougherty and Ashley Davis earned first team acclaim, while Lauren Beville and Stormi Lancaster were second-teamers and Erika Dupree was an honorable mention selection.
In addition, the Lady Buffs Davis was tabbed co-Offensive Player of the Year, Dougherty was the Defensive Player of the Year, Hayes the Setter of the Year and Jason Skoch was Coach of the Year in the balloting of LSC head coaches.
Angelo State, the regular season runner-up, had six players recognized including first-team choices Alex Woolsey, Chelsea Gibson and Celeste Bonter; second-teamer Madison Huth and honorable mention picks Debbie Ohl and Shelby Wilt.
Texas Woman’s Viktorija Jablonska earned co-Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year acclaim. Midwestern State’s Kiara Jordan was named Libero of the Year for the second straight year, while Abilene Christian’s Sara Oxford received Freshman of the Year distinction.
A total of 37 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC postseason awards program including one from all 11 volleyball programs.
Tarleton State had five total selections, while ACU had four, and TWU, MSU and Cameron each added three. Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-Commerce and Incarnate Word all had two and Eastern New Mexico one.
