Eastern New Mexico and Midwestern State are the favorites to capture the 2012 Lone Star Conference men’s and women’s cross country championships, respectively, according to the league’s preseason poll announced Tuesday.
The Greyhounds received 18 first-place votes for a total of 178 points in the men’s poll, while the Mustangs were the unanimous choice on 21 ballots for 189 points on the women’s side.
In 2011, ENMU’s men won their first conference crown, while the MSU women earned their fourth consecutive title.
Nine men’s teams and women’s teams start their season in September, while the postseason begins with the LSC Championships hosted by Cameron, on October 20, 2012.
