Volleyball All-Conference honors announced

Lone Star Conference champion West Texas A&M had three first-team selections on the All-LSC volleyball team announced by league officials Wednesday evening at the LSC Championship banquet.

      WT, which finished with a perfect 16-0 LSC record and is hosting the LSC Championship that starts tomorrow, had a total of five honorees.  Laura Iwuchukwu, Halie Harton and Lexi Davis earned first team acclaim, while Lauren Bevan and Kameryn Hayes were selected to the second team.

      In addition, the Lady Buffs Iwuchukwu was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year and Jason Skoch was Coach of the Year in the balloting of LSC head coaches.

      Texas Woman’s, Angelo State, and Texas A&M-Commerce each had two first-teamers.  The Pioneers Marcela Alves and Chloe' Tate, Rambelles Maddie Huth and Maggi Jo Keffury, and Lions Amy Davault and Jordan Neal earned first team distinction.

      ASU’s Huth and Tarleton State’s Stacie Murrah shared Offensive Player of the Year recognition, while the TexAnns Emily Klein was tabbed Libero of the Year.

      A&M-C’s Neal and Davault were named Setter of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, respectively.  Eastern New Mexico’s Lauren Frye received Freshman of the Year acclaim.

      A total of 34 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC postseason awards program including one from all nine volleyball programs.

      WT, TWU, ASU and TSU each had five total selections, while A&M-C had four.  Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and ENMU added three apiece and Cameron had one.
