Women’s Soccer: Postseason awards announced

Lone Star Conference co-Champions Angelo State and Midwestern State each had five total selections on the All-LSC women’s soccer team announced Thursday evening during the championship banquet in San Angelo, Texas.
 
      ASU had two first-team picks and three second-teamers, while MSU had five first-team honorees.
 
      A&M-Commerce, West Texas A&M, and Texas Woman’s had four selections apiece, while Eastern New Mexico had three.
 
      The Mustangs claimed three special awards with Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Cottrell, Goalkeeper of the Year Kallie Essary and co-Coach of the Year Jeff Trimble.
 
      The Rambelles Travis McCorkle earned co-Coach of the Year acclaim.
 
      WT’s Rhea Belgrave was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year, ENMU’s Fabienne Wilson was named Newcomer of the Year and A&M-C’s Savannah Henderson earned Freshman of the Year honors.
 
      The first team included ASU’s Sierra Anderson and Maggie Schaffer; MSU’s Anna Molen, Cottrell, Morgan Hannon, Katy Catney, and Essary; A&M-C’s Vicky Back, Henderson, and Callie Annett; WT’s Belgrave; and ENMU’s Renee Romero.
 
      Overall, 25 student-athletes were recognized with the all-conference honors program, including at least one player from all six women’s soccer teams in the league.
