Midwestern State leads the field and holds a seven-stroke lead after the first round of the Lone Star Conference Women’s Golf Championships. The annual league event, which includes eight women’s teams, is being held at The Golf Club at Champions Circle in Fort Worth, Texas.
Led by Taylor Klutts, the Mustangs recorded a 23-over-par 311 on a warm and windy day at the par-72, 5,863-yard course. Klutts led the MSU charge with a one-over-par 73, her second lowest round of the year, while Brenna Moore and Lindsay Burkhart both shot 78 to tie for sixth.
West Texas A&M is second in the team race at 30-over 318, with Tarleton right behind them (319). The Texans Isabell Jimenez-Perea is tied for second (73).
The Lady Buffs Glory Jangthongsiri is the individual leader at even-par 72.
The No. 4-6 teams are divided by only two strokes, with Angelo State in fourth place (327), trailed by Cameron and Texas A&M-Commerce tied for fifth (329).
