Tarleton State turned an eight-stroke deficit into a 12-stroke victory to claim its sixth straight and seventh overall Lone Star Conference Women’s Golf Championship title. The annual league event, which includes eight women’s teams, is being held at The Golf Club at Champions Circle in Fort Worth, Texas.
The TexAnns (319-297=616) shot an impressive nine-over-par during the final round, led by Jacqueline Lau at even-par 72. Isabell Jimenez-Perea and Jessica Pickwick finished with two-over 74 rounds as Tarleton came back to top Midwestern State.
West Texas A&M’s Glory Jangthongsiri led wire-to-wire to capture individual medalist honors. The freshman shot one-under-par 71 after a 72 in round one for her first career win.
Jangthongsiri, Tarleton’s Jimenez-Perea and Jacqueline Lau, MSU’s Taylor Klutts, and ASU’s Krista Czarnecki earned all-tournament honors by virtue of placing in the top five.
Midwestern State finished second with a final round 317 for a team total of 628. WT was third (636) and ASU fourth (640), while Incarnate Word and Cameron tied for fifth (654), followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (658) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (689).
