Cameron’s Nicolai Ferrigno and Abilene Christian’s Micah Hermsdorf were named Men’s and Women’s Academic Players of the Year, respectively, to headline the Lone Star Conference tennis academic awards announced Thursday by league officials.
Ferrigno earned Academic Player of the Year acclaim for his success on the court and in the classroom. He led the squad which also included Aggie teammate Jorge Gerosi, ACU’s Hans Hach, Midwestern State’s Luke Joyce and Incarnate Word’s Luke Trautmann and Aiden DeLeon.
Hach and Trautmann were honored for the second straight year.
Hermsdorf claimed Academic Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive year on the women’s side for her work on the court and in the classroom. She was joined on the team by fellow Wildcat Emily Conrad, along with CU’s Julia Puckhaber and Amanda Moberg, Tarleton State’s Alicia Perez and MSU’s Sarita Adhikary.
Joining Hermsdorf as repeat honorees were Puckhaber, Moberg, and Conrad.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
