Abilene Christian’s Hans Hach and Midwestern State’s Luke Joyce shared Lone Star Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year acclaim on Thursday as the annual awards were announced.
Hach was selected as the men’s top player for the third consecutive year and earned All-LSC honors for his play in singles and doubles as well.
In addition to player of the year honors, Joyce picked up All-LSC honors for his play in singles and doubles.
The all-conference honors were voted upon by the head coaches at each LSC member institution for the sixth time in 2013. Previously, the results of the LSC Individual Championships Tournament determined the team.
Individual awards went to Incarnate Word’s Luke Trautmann for Sportsmanship Player of the Year for the second straight year, while the Cardinals Jair Assuncao earned Newcomer of the Year acclaim. Freshman of the Year was split between Cameron’s Dennis Merdan, MSU’s Kyle Davidson, ACU’s Nicklas Wingord and UIW’s Tucker Brown. The Aggies James Helvey was named Coach of the Year.
A total of 21 student-athletes from four member institutions were recognized through the LSC’s all-conference program.
