Cameron’s Thomas Toth and West Texas A&M's Emma Love were tabbed the 2014 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Runners of the Year. The awards were announced Thursday following a vote of the league's head coaches.
The Aggies Toth earned the men's award by unanimous vote, while the Lady Buffs Love was the undisputed female honoree with all seven votes.
Toth capped off his senior season with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships. He finished the 9,560-meter race in 30:56.2, which is CU's fastest time at nationals and the best finish in program history, to earn All-American honors. The performance followed a ninth place finish at the regional and the individual title at the LSC Championships.
Love placed 41st at the national meet, completing the 5,780-meter course in a time of 22:05.3. The senior finished 12th at regionals and was the individual medalist at the LSC Championships. For the second-consecutive season, Love was named LSC Women’s Academic Runner of the Year as well.
