ENMU’s Lantz headlines men’s basketball academic honors

Eastern New Mexico senior Kyle Lantz was named Academic Player of the Year to headline the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Men’s Basketball Team, that was announced Tuesday by league officials at the LSC Awards Banquet in Allen, Texas.

Lantz, who was named to the team for the third consecutive year, has played in all 26 games for the Greyhounds.  The biology major from Albuquerque, N.M., is four-time LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.

Joining Lantz on the squad was Texas A&M-Commerce’s Devondrick Walker, Angelo State’s Ryan Marsh and Reggie Sutton, and Tarleton State’s Jakob Damstra.
