Cross Country All-Academic teams announced

Tarleton State’s Tye Doty and Aly Coughlin claimed top honors Friday as Lone Star Conference officials announced the league's cross country all-academic awards.

Doty was named the LSC Men's Academic Runner of the Year, while Coughlin took home LSC Women's Academic Runner of the Year acclaim.  Both were voted to the LSC All-Academic team, which recognized 11 runners -- six men and five women -- for both academic and athletic achievement. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.  The All-Academic teams are voted upon by the league's sports information directors.

Doty led the men’s All-Academic team, which included teammate Dylan Willett, West Texas A&M’s Zach Daniel, Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Michal Idziak and Shane Stehle, and Texas A&M-Commerce’s Turner Pool.  Willett was honored for the second straight year.

Coughlin was joined by A&M-C’s Terra Truitt, Eastern New Mexico’s Amber Saiz and Klaudia Szych, and Angelo State’s Claudia Ramirez.

All the runners will compete in the LSC Cross Country Championships Monday, October 26 in Stephenville, Texas.
