Over 40 student-athletes were recognized on the All-Lone Star Conference awards for their efforts at the 2015 LSC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships. The awards were announced Tuesday by league officials.
West Texas A&M won its second straight women’s title and Texas A&M-Commerce claimed the men’s crown at the league’s indoor meet February 28-March 1.
The list of all-conference performers includes the winner of each event at the conference meet, including all members of the winning relay teams, plus any athlete who scores at least 14 points at the meet. In all, 24 men and 18 women were recognized by the all-conference program
In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and two coaches with individual awards.
On the men’s side, Texas A&M-Commerce swept the individual awards as Luis Romero was named the Outstanding Male Track Athlete for the second straight year. The Lions Matt Rich earned Outstanding Male Field Athlete acclaim and Tom Dibbern was tabbed Men’s Track Coach of the Year.
For the women, Harding’s Ewa Zaborowska claimed Outstanding Female Track Athlete honors, while Jordan Gray of Angelo State repeated as Outstanding Female Field Athlete. WT’s Darren Flowers received Women’s Track Coach of the Year acclaim for the second consecutive year.
The special awards were voted upon by the league coaches.
A total of 35 individual qualifiers and three relays with 18 individual entries and two relays on the women’s side, and 17 individuals with one relay for the men are set to complete the 2015 indoor season with the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships March 13-14 at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. Portions of the championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
