Buffs Upset No. 2 Colorado State-Pueblo in Thriller, 31-30
In a thrilling back-and-forth affair, that saw touchdowns in all facets of the game and a combined eight turnovers, the West Texas A&M football team upset No. 2 Colorado State-Pueblo 31-30 Saturday evening at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. With the win, the Buffs improved to 1-1 on the year and CSUP fell to 1-1.
The win by the Buffs snapped the nation's longest winning streak as CSUP had won its last 10 games including the national championship last season. CSUP entered the game ironically tied with the longest winning streak with Azusa Pacific who WT played last week.
For the second week in a row the game came down to the wire as CSUP backup quarterback AJ Thompson was intercepted by junior Davontae Merriweather at the CSUP 24 yard line with less than five minutes remaining with the game tied at 24. It was the fourth INT by the Buffs in the game. WT backup quarterback sophomore Ethan Brinkley found senior Geremy Alridge-Mitchell out of the backfield for a 14-yard pass to the CSUP eight with under four minutes left. No. 12 Rams Take Down Western State Colorado 48-20
The No. 12 Angelo State football team racked up 666 yards of total offense, the second most total offensive yards in a game in school history, on the way to a 48-20 victory over Western State Colorado at the Mountaineer Bowl.
The Rams (2-0) threw for 424 yards and rushed for 242 and limited the Mountaineers (0-2) to just 47 yards rushing. The defense picked off three WCSU passes including a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jonathan Shannon. Angelo State is now 8-1 in its last nine road games.
Kyle Washington threw for the fourth most yards in a single game in ASU history while also setting a career high with 423 passing yards. The senior completed a career high 37 completions with three touchdowns while adding 51 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns. Mustangs win slugfest at Colorado Mesa in OT, 16-13
Senior Andy Alkhazshvilly's 28-yard field goal in overtime lifted Midwestern State to a 16-13 win over Colorado Mesa Saturday night Stocker Stadium.
It was third successful field goal of the night for Alkhazshvilly as the Mustangs escaped with a perfect 2-0 record despite not scoring an offensive touchdown.

Carr, Autry, Vasquez Attest for Six Touchdowns in Wilkinson’s Home Debut
Daren Wilkinson said the game plan was to run the ball. The home crowd saw the running attack in full effect early and often as senior Shawn Vasquez rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter as the Javelinas jumped out to a 14-0 lead early. Texas A&M University-Kingsville (1-1) defense continued to play well, collecting 11.0 tackles for a loss and 12 pass breakups, and the offense tallied 443 total yards on offense as the Javelinas defeated Missouri University of Science and Technology (0-2), 38-20, on Saturday evening at Javelina Stadium.

Tarleton falls to Findlay 35-34 in season opener
Tarleton football fell in the season opener 35-34 to Findlay at Memorial Stadium.
In a rematch of the 1978 NAIA playoffs where Findlay won 13-6, the Texans came up short once again to the Oilers, despite holding a 31-14 lead in the third quarter.
After Findlay scored the game's first touchdown on a 2-yard run by Marcus Jones, Le'Nard Meyers hauled in a 50-yard pass from Zed Woerner to put the Texans on the board and tie the score at 7 with 3:26 left in the first quarter.
