Lone Star Conference champion Angelo State had three first-team selections on the All-LSC volleyball team announced by league officials Wednesday evening at the LSC Championship banquet.
ASU, which finished with an 18-2 LSC record and is hosting the LSC Championship that starts tomorrow, had six honorees. Mallory Blauser, Brianna Sotello and Meghan Parker earned first team acclaim, while Abbie Lynn, Morgan Seaton and Mallory Davidson were selected to the second team.
In addition, the Rambelles Parker was tabbed Freshman of the Year and Chuck Waddington claimed Coach of the Year honors.
Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western New Mexico each had two first-teamers. The TexAnns Hailey Roberts and Jordyn Keamo; Javelinas Alexis Wick and Krystal Faison; and Mustangs Shannon Rich and Heather Verrill earned first team recognition.
Eastern New Mexico’s Lauren Frye took home Offensive Player of the Year acclaim, while WNMU’s Shannon Rich was named Defensive Player of the Year.
TSU’s Keamo earned Setter of the Year honors, while Texas A&M-Commerce’s Ashley Mireles was tabbed Libero of the Year and the Javelinas Wick captured Newcomer of the Year distinction.
ENMU’s Frye, Texas Woman’s Sara Oxford, A&M-C’s Mireles, and West Texas A&M’s Elisa Bentsen were also named to the first team.
A total of 37 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC postseason awards program including one from all 11 volleyball programs. The all-conference honors were selected by the league’s head coaches.
