LSC FOOTBALL
A full slate of Lone Star Conference games is set for this week including West Texas A&M at UT Permian Basin which will be broadcast as part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
Texas A&M-Commerce, Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and UT Permian Basin remain unbeaten this season.
LSC football teams are 10-8 overall this season.  The squads are 3-3 combined versus the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.

LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3
A pair of Lone Star Conference football games are part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase schedule and will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
UT Permian Basin will host West Texas A&M on September 17 in the Falcon’s first LSC football game in the program’s initial season.  The league opener for both teams will kickoff at 7 p.m. from Ratliff Stadium.
For a second straight season, A&M-Commerce will host a national broadcast on October 8 as the Lions welcome Midwestern State.  The game starts at 7 p.m.
NCAA Division II announced 18 of the 22 regular-season football games that will be carried on ESPN3, WatchESPN and American Sports Network, after the division entered a three-year agreement in 2015 to deliver Division II athletics events. By comparison, only seven games were televised in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Kamal Cass, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, RB, Clovis, N.M., Clovis HS
Cass paced ENMU with 232 rushing yards in Saturday’s Lone Star Conference win over Western New Mexico. The total was a career-best effort for the junior fullback and was a season-high in rushing yards for any LSC player. Cass scored Eastern’s first two touchdowns of the game, both in the second quarter. The second touchdown came on a career-long 78-yard run. For his career, Cass has topped the century mark in nine games over three seasons. His performance was ENMU’s first 200-yard game since E’lon Spight rushed for 217 in the 2014 LSC playoffs against Texas A&M-Kingsville, and the most since Michael Benton rushed for 243 at University of Central Oklahoma in the 2007 season.

DEFENSIVE
Davontae Merriweather, West Texas A&M University, SR, CB, Palmdale, Calif., Highland HS
Merriweather was all over the field in the Buffs’ 26-10 upset win at No. 19 CSU-Pueblo on Saturday.  Merriweather led the team with eight total tackles, including seven solo stops along with one interception for two yards, two pass breakups, one blocked kick and one quarterback hurry.  It was his fourth career interception and first career block as he returned the block 48 yards almost scoring.  Merriweather leads the team in tackles with 17 and in solo stops with 10 through the first two games.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Kristov Martinez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SO, K, Edinburg, Texas, Edinburg HS
Martinez was perfect 4-for-4 on PATs and 2-for-2 on field goal attempts of 35 and 38 yards in Lions 40-28 win over Delta State.
