LSC FOOTBALL
Midwestern State leads the Lone Star Conference standings as the lone unbeaten team at 4-0 in league play and 5-0 overall.
This week’s schedule includes three Lone Star Conference games with West Texas A&M at Midwestern State, Angelo State at Texas A&M-Commerce, and Tarleton State at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Western New Mexico hosts Fort Lewis, and UT Permian Basin faces Quincy in non-conference action.
LSC football teams are 31-28 overall this season. The squads are 3-3 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.

LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3
The Lone Star Conference game between Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 21 will be featured as part of the 2017 NCAA Division II Football Showcase schedule.
The Texans and Javelinas Homecoming meeting in Kingsville, Texas, will be streamed live on ESPN3 as part of an ongoing three-year agreement to highlight Division II athletics events.
The first 18 games of the football showcase are predetermined matchups. Four additional flex games — highlighting crucial matchups — will be finalized later in the football season and played in November.
ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multiscreen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through the ESPN app. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.

OFFENSIVE
Luis Perez, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, QB, Chula Vista, Calif., Otay Ranch HS / Southwestern JC
Perez became A&M-Commerce's all-time passing touchdown leader with a huge night leading the Lions to 52-3 Homecoming victory over Western N.M. He went over 300 yards passing for the fourth straight game and had his fifth straight game with four or more TD passes. He now leads the LSC in TD passes with 22. Perez completed 23-of-32 passes for 358 yards and five touchdowns without throwing an interception. He now has 54 career touchdown passes, which breaks a 64-year old school record. He also broke the career completion mark at A&M-Commerce. He leads the LSC in passing efficiency, completion percentage, passing TDs, point responsibility, and yards per attempt. He completed two TD passes to Buck Wilson, putting Wilson into the LSC lead in touchdown receptions. He went over 5,000 career passing yards in the game and his 5,212 career yards now ranks 5th in TAMUC history.
DEFENSIVE
Kevin Hayes, Midwestern State University, SO, CB, Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS (College of the Sequoias)
Hayes provided a defensive spark in helping No. 6 Midwestern State to a 41-27 win over Angelo State Saturday night at Legrand Stadium. The sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif. made a season-high seven tackles including a stop for a loss, but also directly forced three Angelo State turnovers. He stripped and recovered a fumble by ASU leading rusher Josh Stevens in the first quarter then picked off a pass right before halftime. Hayes stepped in front of a second aerial and returned it 36 yards to the ASU 29-yard line to set up the second of MSU's three touchdowns in the fourth quarter allowing the Mustangs to extend a 19-13 edge into a 41-13 lead with 4:27 to play.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Connor Flanigan, Angelo State University, SO, K, Austin, Texas, Bowie
Flanigan kicked the third longest field goal in ASU history and the longest in the LSC this season with a 52-yard kick against Midwestern State. The sophomore's career long was one of two he made during the game. The Austin native also averaged 54.2 yards per kickoff with two touchbacks. The 52-yard field goal is also tied for fifth longest in Division II this season.
