Tarleton’s Wipff headlines women’s basketball academic honors

Tarleton State’s Bailey Wipff earned Academic Player of the Year acclaim to top the Lone Star Conference women’s basketball academic honors announced by league officials at the LSC Awards Banquet in Allen, Texas.
The honors included an All-Academic Team, along with an Academic Player of the Year for the league.
Wipff, a senior education major from Lubbock, Texas, earned academic recognition for the second straight year.  She ranks in the top 10 in LSC in scoring (14.0) and three-pointers per game (2.0) with 19 double-figure offensive performances.
On the All-Academic Team with Wipff was Texas Woman's Kenesha Saygo, Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Kaylee Kana, Midwestern State’s Kristin Rydell and Eastern New Mexico’s Mikaehla Connor.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
