Midwestern State’s Jared Baker was named the Lone Star Conference Men’s Player of the Year, while Tarleton State’s Casey Wild earned top billing on the women’s side Sunday night as the league’s annual postseason golf awards were announced at the championships banquet.
League officials announced the all-conference teams and individual awards at the banquet, held in conjunction with the LSC Championships at Frisco Lakes Golf Club in Frisco, Texas.
Joining Baker on the men’s first team All-LSC was CU’s Dario Gabriel and Daniel Nielsen, Western New Mexico’s Harry Wetton and West Texas A&M’s Angel Aguirre.
Cameron’s Noah Hasse earned Freshman of Year honors, while Texas A&M-Commerce’s Wilfredo Sanchez was tabbed Newcomer of the Year. Midwestern State’s Jeff Ray was named Coach of the Year for the men.
Wild topped the women’s first team All-LSC which also included TSU’s Sarah Gee, Beatriz Prados, and Lydia Traylor, and WT’s Mattye Mason.
On the women’s side, CU’s Caroline Christensen earned Freshman of the Year acclaim, while TSU’s Lydia Traylor was named Newcomer of the Year. The TexAnns Jerry Doyle picked up Coach of the Year honors.
Five more players were named to the second team for the men and women, while another four men’s and women’s players were recognized as honorable mention All-LSC selections. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
