LSC announces softball academic awards

Tarleton State’s Jordan Withrow topped the Lone Star Conference Softball All-Academic team which was announced at the LSC Softball Championship banquet.

A sophomore kinesiology major from Trenton, Texas, Withrow is 23-5 in the circle for the TexAnns.  She leads the LSC in wins, innings pitched (192.1) and strikeouts (220).

Joining Withrow on the All-Academic Team is teammate Megan Durante; West Texas A&M’s Allie Smith and Kilee Halbert; Texas A&M-Commerce’s Ciera Nunez and Mariah Jameyson; Texas Woman's Hazel Puempel; Midwestern State’s Lauren Lindgren; and Angelo State’s Bailey Wallace.

Halbert and Smith were recognized for the third time, while Nunez was a repeat selection.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
