Frischer tabbed for LSC internship
Marissa Frischer has been named the Lone Star Conference intern for the 2009-10 academic year.
"We're pleased to welcome Marissa to our staff. We received a great deal of interest for this position with more than 200 applicants, and Marissa really stood out from the rest," said Stan Wagnon, LSC commissioner. "She comes in having already gained a great deal of experience at Boston University, so we're confident she can contribute right away and be a real asset to our operation."
Frischer's primary area of responsibility will be external relations, to include assisting with daily sports information duties and new media ventures. She will also be involved in conference-related meetings and events, administering championships, working with the Conference SAAC, assisting with compliance matters, and other duties as assigned.
"This position was made possible through funding in the NCAA Conference Grant program, so I'm especially grateful to the Division II governing bodies that continue to allocate resources to that program. This position for Marissa, like many other initiatives in our Conference, would not be possible without the financial assistance we receive from the NCAA Conference Grant," added Wagnon.
Frischer joins the LSC after spending time in the Athletics Marketing & Communication office at Boston University. She handled a variety of duties while at BU, including direct assistance of the media, credential distribution, game scoring, public address, post-game press conferences and general media relations. She also provided radio play-by-play and color commentary during soccer, women's ice hockey, softball and women's lacrosse events, along with co-hosting a weekly sports talk show.
A native of Ann Arbor, Mich., she has experience in athletic training and operations from her time with the Terriers as well.
Frischer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from BU in May 2009. She began working with the LSC office on August 31.
