Weaver, Wiman earn weekly honors

TAMUK's Owen Weaver

Texas A&M-Kingsville's Owen Weaver and Abilene Christian's Chris Wiman were named Lone Star Conference Baseball Players of the Week for their performances last week, the league office announced today.

LSC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC Hitter of the Week
Owen Weaver, Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Jr., DH, Corning, Calif./Red Bluff

Weaver hit a blazing .647 for the week as the Javelinas dropped a game at St. Edward's and split a four-game series at Central Oklahoma.  Nearly half of his hits (5-11) were extra base hits, all doubles.  He had a hit in all five games last week and currently has an eight-game hitting streak, batting .519 during that stretch with 7 doubles and 8 RBI.  For the year he is batting .361 and leads the team with 10 doubles and 17 RBI.

LSC Pitcher of the Week
Chris Wiman, Abilene Christian University
Sr., Right-Handed Pitcher, Little Elm, Texas/Little Elm HS

Wiman picked up two wins last weekend in the Wildcats' four-game sweep of West Texas A&M, including one in relief on Saturday and one in a starting role on Sunday.  In the relief win on Saturday, he pitched the top of the 10th inning in a 2-2 ballgame, and set the Buffs down in order to give the Wildcats a chance to win the game in the bottom of the 10th.  In his start Sunday in the final game of the series, Wiman pitched a complete-game four-hitter, allowing just one run while striking out six batters to lead ACU to a 15-1 win over the Buffs.
