Herron, Head tabbed for weekly honors
Tarleton State's Heath Herron and Central Oklahoma's Kyle Head earned Lone Star Conference Baseball Players of the Week honors for their performances last week, the league office announced today.
LSC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC Hitter of the Week
Heath Herron, Tarleton State University
Sr., left field, Celina, Texas/Celina
Herron tied a school record - twice in one night - collecting five
hits in both games of a doubleheader against West Texas A&M on
Friday night. Herron went 5-for-7 in the first game with two
doubles. He accounted for seven of Tarleton's 27-run outburst
against the Buffs, knocking in two and scoring five times.
Herron did not stop there as he batted 1.000 in game two, going
5-for-5. He accounted for 10 of Tarleton's 18 runs in game
two as he drove in five runs and crossed the plate five more
times. Herron's performance helped the Texans cruise to their
first four-game sweep since February of last season.
LSC Pitcher of the Week
Kyle Head, University of Central Oklahoma
Jr., Pitcher, Pryor, Okla./Pryor HS
Head was brilliant on the mound, pitching a complete game, one-hit
shutout to lead Central Oklahoma to a 2-0 victory over
nationally-ranked Angelo State. The Pryor, Okla., native
surrendered his lone base hit, a single in the first before holding
the Rams hitless over the next 6 2/3 innings while compiling
season-high five strikeout and not allowing an Angelo State
baserunner to advance past second base.
