East Central's Dusty Rowland and Texas A&M-Kingsville's Sam Strickland picked up Lone Star Conference Baseball Players of the Week honors for their performances last week, the league office announced today.

LSC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC Hitter of the Week
Dusty Rowland, East Central University
Jr., Outfielder, Ada, Okla./Byng High School

Rowland batted .500 (8-for-16) with two homers, two doubles, 11 runs batted in and seven runs scored as ECU posted a 3-2 record last week, including taking 3-of-4 games from visiting Eastern New Mexico. He went 2-for-4 with five RBI in a 10-8 non-conference loss to UCO. He was 3-for-5 with a solo-homer and three runs scored in ECU's 10-4 series opening victory over ENMU and hit a two-run blast in the Tigers' 13-4 loss to the Greyhounds. Rowland is batting .337 for the season and leads the team with 47 runs batted in and is second in homers (4) and doubles (10).

LSC Pitcher of the Week
Sam Strickland, Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Jr., LHP, Spring, Texas/Spring Woods

Strickland improved to 7-3 on the season by throwing a four-hit, 13 strikeout complete game effort against Cameron in a 3-0 Javelina victory, enabling Texas A&M-Kingsville to earn a series split on the road.  It was Strickland's sixth complete game of the year, his second shutout and lowered his ERA to 2.79.  His 13 strikeouts were the most for a Javelina pitcher in a single game in three seasons and are the most by a pitcher in the Lone Star Conference this year.
