LSC basketball preseason media day to be held in Bartlesville

The Lone Star Conference will host a basketball preseason media day on Wednesday, October 3, at the ConocoPhillips headquarters in downtown Bartlesville, Okla.

With the 2007-08 season on the horizon, the LSC men's and women's basketball coaches will meet with the media from 1:30-4 p.m.  The event begins with the announcement of preseason polls and players of the year.  After that, the afternoon continues with each of the LSC head coaches appearing before the assembled media to speak and take questions about the upcoming season.  Coaches will be made available for one-on-one interviews as well.

Additionally, conference officials intend to unveil a new logo for the conference championship tournament, which will be played in Bartlesville for the first time this season.

The LSC and Bartlesville Sports Commission (BSC) recently announced a three-year agreement to play the LSC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship in Bartlesville.  The 2008 Championship event is set for March 5-9 at Bartlesville's Bruin Fieldhouse.

The 2007-08 LSC basketball season begins in mid-November with non-conference contests before the conference schedule tips off Thursday, November 29.  Regular season play continues through March 1.

Last season, Midwestern State claimed the men's LSC title and Texas A&M-Commerce captured the women's LSC championship.  The Lions also won the South Central Regional and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
