Basketball: Weekly awards announced
Four student-athletes were named Lone Star Conference Basketball Players of the Week for their performances last week, league officials announced today.

Junior star spearheaded UCO's first sweep of Abilene Christian and
Angelo State since 1992-93 with another stellar all-around week,
averaging 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 blocks a
game while shooting 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field . . .
Brenner had 14 points, five blocks and four steals in a 73-52 rout
of ASU, then led UCO to a come-from-behind 78-69 win over ACU with
24 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Jastin Flenory, East Central
University

Flenory shot 60.9 percent from the floor and 86.7 percent from the
line while averaging 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 6.0 steals as
East Central's Lady Tigers went 2-1 last week. In a 73-58
loss to St. Mary's, Flenory posted a triple-double with 11 points,
10 rebounds and a school-record 11 steals. She followed that
up the next night with a 17-point, 9-rebound and 6-steal
performance in ECU's 69-64 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Earlier in the week, she was a perfect 6 of 6 from the floor and
finished with 13 points, despite playing just 19 minutes in the
Lady Tigers 84-51 route of Southwestern Christian. Flenory
entered the 2007-08 season as ECU's all-time steals leader and had
the highest field-goal percentage in the Lone Star Conference at 59
in 2006-07. She is currently shooting 61.8 percent from the
field this season and is averaging 4.6 steals.

Brittni Morrison, Midwestern State

Morrison splashed in a career-high 25 points in a 76-61 win over
Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday and then helped the Mustangs
to an overtime win over Cameron on Saturday as the Midwestern State
enjoyed a 2-0 week. The 5-11 senior forward hit on nine of her 10
shots from the field against SWOSU including 5-of-6 from the arc.
She also pulled down six rebounds and dished out four assists.
Morrison came a rebound shy of a double-double in Saturday's 71-60
overtime win over Cameron as she finished with 12 points and nine
rebounds, while adding four assists. For the week, the Archer City
native averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and four assists while
shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field.
LSC North Men's
Nate Perry, Southwestern Oklahoma State
University

Perry averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Bulldogs became
one of only two LSC schools to remain undefeated after road
victories over defending league champion Midwestern State and
previously unbeaten Tarleton State. Perry made 62% of his shots and
put up back-to-back, 23-point games in the Bulldog victories.

Wendell Mulkey, Texas A&M
University-Kingsville

Central
Mulkey played brilliantly from his point guard position, averaging
10 points, 4.3 assists, 4.3 steals and 3.3 rebounds per game as the
Javelinas went 3-0 on the week to improve to 5-0, tying the second
best start in school history. Mulkey had a career-high 7
seals in Saturday's win over Southeastern Oklahoma and 6 steals
against Incarnate Word. He had a career-high 8 rebounds
against East Central and 6 assists against Incarnate Word. He
scored all of his points from the field and all from inside the
3-point arch. Mulkey led a Javelina defensive effort in which
the Hogs allowed only 55.7 points per game and allowed opponents to
shoot only 37% from the floor.
