Basketball: Four players receive weekly honors
Four student-athletes received Lone Star Conference Basketball Player of the Week honors for their efforts last week, league officials announced today.
LSC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Women's
Jessica White, Northeastern State University
So., Guard, Jenks, Okla./Jenks High School
White led the surging RiverHawks to a pair of Lone Star Conference
North Division victories over Texas A&M-Commerce and SW
Oklahoma State. White averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds
per game. In the RiverHawks blowout of Commerce, White had a career
high 21 points and 11 rebounds (5 offensive and 6 defensive).
LSC South Women's
Audrey Maxwell, Abilene Christian University
Jr., Center, Abilene, Texas/Abilene High School
Maxwell - last week's LSC South Division Player of the Week - was
dominating again last week as she led the Wildcats to a pair of
wins over Eastern New Mexico and Angelo State, helping the Wildcat
clinch a spot in the LSC Post-Season Tournament. Maxwell
posted back-to-back double-doubles in the wins, her eighth and
ninth of the season and 20th and 21st of her career. She
scored 27 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had four blocks, two
assists and two steals in the Wildcats' 84-60 win over Eastern New
Mexico. Then Sunday against the Rambelles she had 28 points,
16 rebounds and three steals in ACU's 77-67 victory.
LSC North Men's
Trevor Guy, Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Sr., F, Memphis, Texas/Memphis
Guy had his fifth double-double of the year when he collected
career highs in both points (25) and rebounds (14) in SWOSU's 71-70
victory at Southeastern. He averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds
while shooting better than 54% from the field.
LSC South Men's
Corwin Ragland, Abilene Christian University
Sr., Guard, DeSoto, Texas/A.B. Miller High School (Fontana,
Calif.)
Ragland helped the Wildcats to a pair of LSC South Division wins
last week as they beat both Eastern New Mexico and Angelo State to
remain alive in the chase for the LSC Post-Season Tournament.
Ragland averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 assists per game from the
point guard position to lead a Wildcat offense that averaged 90.0
ppg in the two wins. In Thursday's 84-60 win at ENMU - a game
that saw ACU with a 40-point lead late in the game - Ragland scored
nine points and had four assists in just 23 minutes of playing
time. But in Sunday's 96-85 win over Angelo State, Ragland
scored a career-high 27 points and dished out a career-best eight
assists. Ragland hit 6 of 9 shots from the field, including 3
of 5 from the free throw line. He was also strong at the free
throw line where he hit 12 of 16 shots, both of which are season
highs for Ragland.
