A&M-Commerce's Jordan selected in 2009 WNBA Draft by Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Sparks selected Texas A&M-Commerce standout Britney Jordan with the 35th pick in the third round of the 2009 WNBA Draft on Thursday.
Jordan is just the second player in Lone Star Conference history
to be drafted in the WNBA after Southeastern Oklahoma State's
Crystal Robinson was chosen by the New York Liberty in 1999.
Jordan was named a 2009 Daktronics Division II Women's
Basketball First-Team All-American following the 2008-09 season.
With that selection, the 5'8" guard became the first player in
school history to receive first-team All-American honors. Jordan
averaged a nation-leading 31.3 points per game, and added to that
with 6.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.5 steals per outing. She
finished the season with 909 points, a conference and school
record.
The WNBA, which began with its inaugural season in 1997, is
comprised of 13 teams from around the United States. Each team
plays 34 games with the regular season spanning from June to
September.
