LSC football preseason media day on tap
The Lone Star Conference will hold a football preseason media day on Monday, July 30, at the Hilton Fort Worth in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
In anticipation of the 2007 season, all 13 football head coaches will converge in Fort Worth for a luncheon with the media. During the event, LSC officials will announce the preseason poll and players of the year.
The festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. with registration followed by lunch, a brief program and an open interview session. LSC Commissioner Stan Wagnon will preview the upcoming season and a few coaches will discuss the 2007 campaign as well.
In addition, select volleyball, soccer and cross country coaches will be on hand and the preseason choices for those sports will be announced.
The site and timing of the LSC's luncheon coincides with the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention and Coaching School, which runs July 29 through Aug. 1 in downtown Fort Worth.
The 2007 LSC football season kicks off on Aug. 23 when Southwestern Oklahoma hosts Northwestern Oklahoma in a Thursday evening contest, while Midwestern State, East Central, Tarleton State, Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce play on Saturday, Aug. 25.
West Texas A&M claimed the 2006 LSC title with a 11-2 mark overall and an 8-1 league record, while the LSC continued to be a regular participant in postseason by sending three teams - WTAMU, MSU and Abilene Christian -- to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the third time in four seasons.
