Football: Abilene Christian tops Tarleton State, 70-63
The Lone Star Conference added to its storied 76-year history on
Saturday as an array of NCAA Division II, conference and school
records were set or tied in addition to several season-high
marks. Abilene Christian and junior running back Bernard
Scott led the effort in an incredible 70-63 win over Tarleton
State. The Wildcats handed the Texans their first loss of the
year as Scott rushed for an ACU single-game record 283 rushing
yards with six touchdowns, which tied the LSC and school
single-game marks.
West Texas A&M continued its perfect season
with a victory over Angelo State and is in the driver's seat for
the South Division and LSC titles. Texas A&M-Kingsville
edged Eastern New Mexico to pick up their first win in the division
behind a school-record five touchdowns and a career-high 310 yards
from redshirt freshman quarterback David Garza.
Central Oklahoma and Texas A&M-Commerce
both recorded wins to move to 3-1 in the North Division. In
crossover action, Midwestern State bested Southeastern Oklahoma as
Daniel Polk eclipsed MSU's all-time (7,499 yards) and single-season
(2,779) total offense marks with a season-high 369 yards.
NCAA Division II records
Most points by losing team in regulation - 63 by Tarleton State,
breaks previous record of 60 points by New Haven in a 74-60 loss to
Southern Connecticut State on Oct. 25, 1991.
LSC records
Individual single game touchdowns - 6, Bernard Scott tied the
record set by ACU's Wilbert Montgomery against Stephen F. Austin in
1973.
Individual Longest Run - 99, WTAMU's Keithon Flemming tied the
record set earlier this season by ENMU's JT Thompson, who scampered
99 yards against ECU on Sept. 15 to break the previous conference
record of 98 yards by Texas A&I's Wesley Whiten against Fort
Hays State during the 1995 season.

LSC North Offensive
Nabil El-Amin, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., RB, Rochester,

Scored four touchdowns, including three on the ground and a
90-yard kickoff return to start the second half...the last time a
player had three rushing touchdowns was Demetrius Rector scored
three times against West Texas A&M on October 13, 2001...he ran
for over 100 yards for the fourth-straight game...only two of his
24 carries were for minus yardage...on the Lions first touchdown,
he ran the ball five times of the eight play drive, on the second
Lions touchdown, he ran the ball on six occasions of the eight-play
drive and on the third touchdown drive, he ran the ball three times
of the four-play drive.
LSC North Defensive
Will Clewis, Central Oklahoma, Sr., Linebacker, Fort
Worth, Texas/Eastern Hills
Clewis spearheaded another strong UCO defensive effort that
limited Southwestern to 220 yards in the Bronchos' 10-7 win.
He had a team-high 12 tackles and intercepted a SWOSU pass at the
UCO 27 in the fourth quarter to stop the Bulldogs' best drive since
early in the game. Clewis and the Bronchos allowed just 150
yards after SWOSU went 70 yards on their first possession of the
game to tie the score 7-7.
LSC North Special Teams
Daniel Swaim, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., Punter,
Kilgore, Texas/Kilgore JC
After missing most of the week of practice, Swaim landed three of
his six punts inside the 20 against East Central...his first of
three punts that were downed inside the 20 was ruled down at the 1
and led to an A&M-Commerce safety...in addition to his punt
that he had downed at the 1, he also had a punt that was downed at
the three...for the season, 15 of his 48 punts have been downed
inside the 20.
LSC South Offensive
Bernard Scott, Abilene Christian, Jr., Running Back,

Scott broke or tied several ACU and LSC records in the Wildcats'
incredible 70-63 win at Tarleton State on Saturday. Scott
finished the game with an ACU single-game record 283 rushing yards,
breaking the old record of 275 set by Don Harr in a 1970 game
against McMurry. Scott also tied the LSC and ACU single-game
record of six touchdowns, which was set by former ACU standout
Wilbert Montgomery against Stephen F. Austin. During the
course of the game, Scott became ACU's all-time single-season
rusher as he finished his day with 1,365 rushing yards this season,
shattering the previous record of 1,211 yards set by Eric Polk in
2001. Scott scored on runs of 31, 4, 2, 2, 73 and 10
yards. Scott had 349 yards of total offense as also completed
a halfback pass to Edmund Gates for 66 yards, and Scott also had 54
yards receiving on five catches as he accounted for 403 of the
Wildcats' 715 yards of total offense. Scott clinched the game
for ACU with a 10-yard run on third-and-7 from the TSU 10-yard line
with one minute to play in the contest.
LSC South Defensive
Brandon Swain, West Texas A&M, Jr., Defensive End,
Tulsa, Okla./Washington HS
Swain spearheaded a solid Buff defensive effort Saturday night as
the Buffalo defense held the Rams in check until they scored twice
in the fourth quarter against the second team. Swain paced the team
with eight tackles and two quarterback hurries, while adding his
LSC-leading eighth sack of the season.
LSC South Special Teams
Matt Adams, Abilene Christian, Jr., Placekicker, Abilene,
Texas/Abilene HS
Adams hit 8 PAT in ACU's 70-63 win over Tarleton State on
Saturday, tying the ACU single-game record for PATs in a
game. In the process, Adams also became ACU's single-game
leader in PATs with 50 (on 54 attempts), as well as the career PAT
leader with 103 (on 109 attempts). Adams is also ACU's
single-season kicking points leader with 77, and he is second on
the career kicking points and third on the all-time points list
with 184 career points.
