LSC Golf postseason awards announced
Central Oklahoma's Colby Shrum and Northeastern State's Stephanie Bird were named the Lone Star Conference Players of the Year Sunday night as the league's annual postseason golf awards were revealed at the championships banquet, held in conjunction with the LSC Championships at WinStar Golf Course.
League officials announced the all-conference teams and individual awards at the banquet. This marks the fourth year for golf's postseason awards to be voted on by league coaches. Before, all-conference honors had been determined only by results at the LSC tournament.
Midwestern State's Travis Klutts earned Freshman of Year honors and UCO's Dax Johnson was named Coach of the Year for the men.
On the women's side, Tarleton State's Carla Cooper picked up Freshman of the Year honors, while the TexAnns Jerry Doyle and West Texas A&M's Meredith Jameson shared Coach of the Year honors.
Shrum was the leading vote-getter on the men's first team All-LSC group, and he was joined by Northeastern State's Sam Powell, Cameron's Peter Svajlen, Texas A&M-Commerce's Blake Worden and Southwestern Oklahoma's Patrick McCarthy.

Bird topped the list on the women's first team All-LSC, along with Tarleton's Cooper, Shraddhanjali Singh, and Andrea Lowe, and WTAMU's Mollie Peterson.
A total of 11 more players were named to the second team for both men and women, while another five men's players and seven women's players were recognized as honorable mention All-LSC selections.
