Women's Golf: Tarleton State in lead after first round
Tarleton State utilized a complete team effort to take the lead after the first day at the Lone Star Conference Championships.
Eight women's teams are competing at the annual conference tournament, which is being held at WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla. Play concludes on Tuesday with final-round tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The TexAnns put together a first-day 302 total to take a nine-stroke lead over Northeastern State (311). Carla Cooper led the TSU effort and is tied for the individual lead with a two-over par 74 heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Joining her atop of the leaderboard is Andrea Lowe (t-3rd), Shraddhanjali Singh (6th), Melanie Tham (t-7th) and Maury Shock (t-11th).
NSU's Stephanie Bird is sharing the top spot with Cooper. Three others -- NSU's Courtney Epps, UCO's Raelynn Farthing and TSU's Lowe -- are also in the hunt for medalist honors at three-over par.
