Tarleton State claims LSC women's golf championships
Tarleton State continued its remarkable 2008 season with their ninth tournament title at the Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championships as play wrapped up at WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla.
The TexAnns won their second conference title after winning the tournament in 2003 as well. Sophomore Andrea Lowe led the TSU effort and finished third with a three-over par 147.
Shraddhanjali Singh (t-4th), Carla Cooper (t-7th), Melanie Tham (t-9th) and Maury Shock (t-13th) contributed to the TexAnns efforts, which included rebounding from eight-over par after the first four holes of play in round one to card a 26-over 602 (302-300).
Northeastern State senior Courtney Epps was the medalist at even par after shooting an impressive 69 in the final round, while the RiverHawks Stephanie Bird finished second at two-over par. Central Oklahoma's Raelynn Farthing tied for fourth with a four-over par 148.
Epps, Bird, Lowe, Farthing and Singh earned all-tournament honors by virtue of placing in the top five.
NSU finished second in the team standings with a team total of 612, while Texas A&M-Commerce was third with a 640 total for two rounds.
