Men's Golf: Six LSC teams selected for regional
Six Lone Star Conference men's golf teams were selected for the South Central Regional to be played May 5-7 at the Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
Central Oklahoma is the No. 1 seed, while Abilene Christian is seeded third, Cameron is the fourth seed, Northeastern State is fifth, Southwestern Oklahoma State is sixth and Southeastern Oklahoma is seventh.
Also representing the LSC are individuals Blake Worden of Texas A&M-Commerce, Midwestern State's Travis Klutts and Brady Jones and East Central's Matt Charlson.
The South Central region is paired with the South Region in Austin to form a super regional. The South Region includes West Florida, the No. 1 seed, No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 3 Nova Southeastern, No. 4 Valdosta State, No. 5 Barry, Fla., No. 6 Lynn, Fla., No. 7 Florida Tech and No. 8 North Alabama.
The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston. The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.
Ten additional teams will earn berths to the finals. These teams will be determined based on the previous three-year average of top-10 finishes of a super regional at the finals. For the 2008 championships, the additional super regional allotments are as follows:
Atlantic/Southeast - Three
Great Lakes/Central - One
South/South Central - Three
West/Northwest - Three
