Softball: Four players honored
Four student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Softball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced today.
LSC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Hitter
Rachel Sill, Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Sr., Second Base, Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle HS
Sill helped SOSU to a 3-1 record last week, including a
double-header sweep of Cameron over the weekend. She hit .500
with five RBI, including a home run and a double. Sill
slugged .833 and scored three runs.
LSC North Pitcher
Katie Petersen, Midwestern State University
So., Pitcher, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS
Petersen claimed the win in each of the Mustangs' five victories
this week as she extended her personal win streak to 13 decisions.
The sophomore right-hander logged a 0.69 ERA, limiting the
opposition to two runs on 17 hits while fanning 18 and walking none
in 20 1/3 innings of work. The Plano native notched her 14th career
shutout and pulled her season ERA under 1.00, but also recorded a
game winning single in a 6-5 win over Texas Woman's University on
Wednesday. Petersen continued her stellar stretch since opening the
season with two losses. She is 13-0 in her last 16 appearances
since Feb. 9. Petersen has a 0.64 ERA, 70 strikeouts and
allowed 59 base runners in the last 66 innings while limiting
opponents to a .186 batting average against.
LSC South Hitter
Macy Baker, Angelo State University
Jr., Shortstop, Crowley, Texas/Crowley HS
Baker hit .545 as she sparked the No. 5-ranked Rambelles to a
three-game sweep over Eastern New Mexico. Baker opened the series
with a 2-for-4 performance with home run in Friday's 4-1 win over
the Zias. On Saturday, Baker went 4-for-7 from the plate in the
double header with another home run in the final game of the
three-game set. In that last game, she went 3-for-5 from the plate
with two runs scored and four RBI. Her three-run home run came in
the eighth inning to seal the sweep.

Kim McDonald, Abilene Christian University
Sr., Pitcher, College Station, Texas/Bryan HS
McDonald didn't give up a run in two ACU victories as she pitched
five innings in each of her two starts. ... In Saturday's 12-0 win
over Texas Woman's, McDonald allowed just three hits and one struck
out one batter in a run-rule victory. ... In ACU's 5-2 win over
Texas Woman's on Sunday, Mcdonald gave up just five hits and struck
out two batters in a five-inning outing.
