Softball: ASU, SE, ACU selected for NCAA South Central Regional
Three Lone Star Conference softball teams earned a spot in the 2009 NCAA Division II South Central Regional.
LSC champion Angelo State and North Division regular season winner Southeastern Oklahoma will each host one of the four-team, double-elimination regionals May 8-10.
Abilene Christian, the South Division champions, also claimed a spot in the field.
The two tournament winners will square off in the Super
Regionals May 15-16 at the highest remaining seed for a berth into
the 2009 NCAA Division II Finals.
Durant site
Southeastern Oklahoma (50-11) will host its first regional with Abilene Christian, Central Missouri and Missouri Western in a four-team, double-elimination tournament at the Southeastern Softball Complex.
The Savage Storm finished No. 2 in the final NCAA Division II Couth Central Regional poll and will open with a 2:30 pm contest against Central Missouri (34-12), which finished in the No. 7 spot, on May 8.
That contest will be preceded by a 12 p.m. match-up between Abilene Christian (42-13), which finished No. 3 in the regional poll, and Missouri Western (45-10), the No. 6 team in the region.
Games on May 9 will be scheduled for 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., while May 10 contests will be played at 1 p.m., with the 3:30 p.m. used as an if necessary slot.

San Angelo site
For the third straight season, the Angelo State softball team
will serve as host for the NCAA Division II South Central Regional
Tournament, May 8-10, at the ASU Softball Complex. The Rambelles
will host one of two four-team tournaments this weekend in the
region.
Top-seeded Angelo State will face No. 8-seed St. Edward's in the
first round of the tournament at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8.
Fourth-seeded Emporia State will meet No.
5-seed Nebraska-Omaha in the first game of the day at 4:30
p.m. Games will continue at 2 p.m. Saturday with the title game set
for 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Rambelles will enter the NCAA event with a 43-8 overall record
and as champions of the Lone Star Conference. The field consists of
three conference champions as St. Edward's claimed the Heartland
Conference title Saturday and Emporia State battled through the
losers' bracket to win the MIAA title Sunday afternoon.
Nebraska-Omaha is the runner-up from the MIAA.
Tickets for the three-day event go on sale Tuesday, May 5, at the
ASU Ticket Office. All-Tournament Passes are available for $15.
General admission single-day passes will cost $8 for Friday and
Saturday and $10 for Sunday. Student prices are $5 for Friday and
