LSC announces Track & Field weekly honors
Four track and field student-athletes have been recognized with Lone Star Conference Athlete of the Week honors for competition last week, league officials announced today.
LSC TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
LSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Jeremy Jones, Angelo State University, Jr., Hurdles, Oakland,
Calif.
Junior Jeremy Jones won both the 110-meter and 400-meters hurdles
on Thursday as the Rams competed in the Tarleton Relays on
Thursday. He recorded a time of 14.63 in the 110 hurdles and season
best 55.39 in the 400 hurdles. Jones has already recorded a
provisional qualifying mark in the 110-meter hurdles this
season.
LSC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Abel Garcia, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Jr., Throws, Del
Rio, Texas/Del Rio
Garcia won all three throwing events at the Border Olympics.
He won the shot put with a throw of 54-1, the discus with a throw
of 158-2 and the hammer with a throw of 155-8.
LSC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Yvette Pender, Angelo State University, Jr., Sprints, El Paso,
Texas/Andress HS
Junior Yvette Pender won the 100-meter dash and placed second in
the 200-meter dash as the Rambelles competed at the Tarleton State
Relays on Thursday. Pender set season bests in both events, running
the 100 meters in 12.21 and the 200 in 25.12. Her time in the 100
is the best by ASU this spring.
LSC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Adree Lakey, Angelo State University, Jr., Throws, Sylvester,
Texas/Roby HS
Junior Adree Lakey won three events as the Rambelles competed at
the Tarleton Relays on Thursday. She claimed the shot put with a
toss of throw of 47'5 3/4", the discus with a toss of 156'9", and
the hammer with a mark of 169'5". She also placed fourth in the
javelin with a throw of 121'1". Already this season, Lakey has
recorded automatic qualifying marks in the shot put and discus and
a provisional mark in the hammer.
