Shirley was an active member of the Ramettes, SAC’s drill team, during her collegiate days. After taking a position at then Angelo State College in 1967, she became one of the most visible supporters of ASU athletics. Shirley voluntarily sponsored the cheerleaders from 1975-88 only missing two football games, home or away, during that stretch. She sponsored the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on campus from 1986-2003 and served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Lone Star Conference from 1984-94. Shirley was enshrined into the LSC Hall of Honor in 1997. Shirley currently serves as the Executive Assistant and Coordinator of Special Activities at ASU.
