UCO: Cook Named to Soccer Hall of Fame

Central Oklahoma head soccer coach Mike Cook has been selected for induction into the United Soccer Leagues Hall of Fame, it was announced recently.

Cook will be honored at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 17 in Tampa, Fla., and was selected among a pool of candidates based on their abilities, sportsmanship, character, and contribution to their organization, USL and the sport in general. He is part of a President's Selection class of six individuals from the inaugural six teams that launched the USL in 1986.

Cook was an eight-time All-Star and led the Oklahoma City Warriors to two United States Indoor Soccer League (USISL) championships over a decade-long career that also saw him compete for the Colorado Comets of the United Soccer League (USL).

"It's truly an honor to be selected for this prestigious award," said Cook. "I have great memories of my playing career and I'm extremely excited and humbled to be recognized by my peers."

After a highly-successful playing and coaching career at Southern Nazarene University, Cook has guided the Bronchos to five Lone Star Conference championships and four NCAA Division II national tournament appearances during his nine-year tenure at UCO. A four-time winner of LSC Coach of the Year, he owns a mark of 138-43-7 at the helm of the Central Oklahoma soccer program.
