Women's Soccer: Three pick up weekly honors

Three student-athletes picked up Lone Star Conference Soccer Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced.

Meagan Lasley, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., Forward, Mesquite, Texas/Mesquite    
Had her third hat trick of the season in the Lions' 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico...led an A&M-Commerce attack with four shots in the 1-0 win over No. 22 West Texas...first player in school history to have three hat tricks in a season...her third goal moved into fourth place all-time with 71 points, moving ahead of Tiffany Adams (70) and Bailey Geels (65).

Defensive
Evan Stanberry, Texas A&M-Commerce, Fr., Defender, Frisco, Texas/Wakeland
Played a key role along the A&M-Commerce defense in the Lone Star Conference against two of the top offensive threats in the conference - Samantha Lawrence of Eastern New Mexico and Elisabeth Markussen of West Texas A&M. Lawrence, who is tied for second in the LSC in goals with 14, was able to get off six shots but scored just once. Meanwhile, Markussen, who leads the LSC in goals with 16, was held without a shot in the Lions' 1-0 win.

Crissy Lawson, Abilene Christian, Jr., GK, San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel
Lawson helped ACU shutout the second-place UCO Bronchos Friday with a 1-0 victory. She tied a season high with nine saves. Lawson also helped ACU defeat Southwestern Oklahoma State Sunday, which gave the Wildcats a winning record in conference play.

The Wildcats' win over Central Oklahoma is the biggest win in the program's short 2-season history; it was ACU's first win in conference play over a team with a winning record ... Courtney Wilson's two goals over the weekend gave her four for 2008 and 10 for her career ....Womack's goal in the Southwestern Oklahoma game gave her 12 for her career giving her ACU's all-time lead in goals scored ... Jordan Reese had a pair of assists in the win over Southwestern Oklahoma giving her six on the season and 11 for her career, which extends her all-time lead for the school's history ... The win over Southwestern Oklahoma is the program's 15th win overall and helped ACU match its conference win total (3) from a year ago ... Crissy Lawson tied a season-high with nine saves in the win over Central Oklahoma and recorded her fourth shutout of the season ... The Wildcats have outscored opponents 17-10 this season... Courtney Wilson helped ACU knock off second-place UCO by scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over the Bronchos. She also scored a goal in ACU's 3-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. Tallied five shots on goal in both LSC matches... Veronica Wilhelm and the ACU defense continues its dominance by shutting out second-place Central Oklahoma, 1-0 and winning 3-1 over Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Wildcats are first in the LSC in goals allowed and goals against average. Wilhelm along with defenders Anastasia Nelson, Bree Craig and goalie Crissy Lawson have turned around a defense that was eighth in goals allowed and goals against average in 2007...

Angelo State
The Rambelles extended its home unbeaten streak to 12 games (10-0-2), dating back to last season, with a pair of shutouts this weekend...ASU now has eight shutouts to their credit, one shy of the school record of nine set in 2003...The Rambelles have posted shutouts in its last six home games and have now held opponents scoreless for the last 639:24 at the ASU Soccer Field...At 0.72, the Rambelles are on pace to set a school record for lowest goals against average. The ASU record is 1.00 set in 2006... Brandie DeBacker scored two goals and had an assist as the Rambelles cruised to 4-0 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma. DeBacker moved into a tied for the team lead in goals with seven on the season and now leads ASU with 18 points... Natalie Shannon picked up her fourth shutout of the season, in her only appearance of the weekend, as the Rambelles downed Southwestern Oklahoma, 4-0, on Sunday. Shannon is now 6-3-1 on the season with a 0.89 goals against average... Marianne Glutz anchored a Rambelle defense that posted two shutouts this weekend. Glutz was instrument in ASU's 0-0 tie with Central Oklahoma on Sunday. The Ramblles held UCO to just seven shots and just three shots on goal. The Rambelles now lead the LSC in shutouts with eight, one shy of the school record, and rank second in the in goals against average (0.72)...

Eastern New Mexico
Last Friday, the Zias dropped a 3-1 decision to regionally ranked Texas A&M-Commerce, and were defeated by Texas Woman's 4-0 on Sunday. Samantha Lawrence added to her single-season record by netting her 14th goal of the season against the Lions. Next Sunday, Eastern will travel to Midwestern State... Samantha Lawrence netted her 14th goal of the season, giving the Zias an early lead against Texas A&M-Commerce. Six of her nine shots over the two games last week were on goal...

Midwestern State
Midwestern State wrapped up its eight-game road binge with a pair of wins at East Central and Northeastern State. The Mustangs finished the swing with a 5-3 record and started a five-match regular season ending homestand with a 7-0 win over Texas A&M International Tuesday afternoon...Freshman forward Kelsey Hill's 12 goals this season are tied for the third most for MSU freshman in program history. Becky Athey set the school single-season record with 21 as a freshman in 1995, while April Lasater netted 16 as a frosh in 1996 and Megan Dodson had 12 in her freshman season of 2002...Sophomore midfielder Kendra Clemons became the fourth player in MSU history to notch three assists in a match in Tuesday's 7-0 win over Texas A&M International. She joins Amy Cockrill (Oct. 10, 1995 at U-Dallas), Brittany Burney (Oct. 19, 2005 vs. Northeastern State) and Chrissy Troia, who accomplished the feat twice. Troia had three assists at Texas-Permian Basin on Oct. 3, 2001 then two weeks later against Dallas Baptist on Oct. 17, 2001...Senior forward Megan Bibilone moved into the top 10 on MSU's career points list in Tuesday's win over Texas A&M International. Bibilone now has 39 points and is tied for sixth on the career goals scored listed with 18...The Mustangs, who set a Lone Star Conference record with 65 shots in a 13-1 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sep. 5, took 56 shots while placing 25 shots on goal in a 7-0 win over Texas A&M International on Tuesday. The 56 shots are the third most in school history...MSU freshman Kelsey Hill scored on a header in the last second to send Friday's match against East Central into overtime before Brittany Subia won the game with a goal in 110th minute of the second overtime. Midwestern has now scored three goals in the final minute of regulation this season and two more golden goals to win two matches in overtime... Kelsey Hill scored four goals including at least one goal in each of Midwestern State's three matches last week as the Mustangs came away with wins over East Central, Northeastern State and Texas A&M International. The true freshman from Wichita Falls leaped high to knock in a header off of a free kick in the final second of regulation Friday at East Central to send the match into overtime. Hill had a goal and an assist to spark a three-goal second-half in a 3-0 win at Northeastern State on Sunday. She then netted a pair of second-half goals in a 7-0 runaway against Texas A&M International on Tuesday. Hill, who placed 10 of her 16 shots on goal last week, leads the Mustangs with 12 goals and two assists for 26 points this season... Heather Primavera allowed one goal in 205:02 of play while combining for two shutouts as Midwestern State claimed wins over East Central, Northeastern State and Texas A&M International. The senior goalkeeper from Mansfield recorded a .857 save percentage while allowing 0.44 goals against average... Michelle Harrs keyed a defense that allowed just one goal and posted a pair of shutouts in three games as Midwestern State claimed results over East Central, Northeastern State and Texas A&M International. The senior from Kingwood helped the back line limit the opposition seven shots a game, while MSU keepers had to save just seven shots...

Weather has forced the postponement of the previously two scheduled meetings between A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's, the teams will give it a third try on Tuesday, October 28 at 4 p.m. in Denton...the victory over No. 22 West Texas A&M marked the second victory by A&M-Commerce over a ranked team in 2008, earlier in the year, the Lions began the season with a win over No. 12 Drury...with the two wins, A&M-Commerce moved up to No. 5 in the latest NSCAA/adidas South Central Regional rankings...junior Meagan Lasley has had four multi-goal games in 2008...A&M-Commerce has a perfect 10-0 mark when Chelsey Haight scores a goal over the last two season...Sunday will mark the regular season home finale for senior Melissa DoRemus, who has started and played in 76-consecutive contests... Taylor Jordan gave up just one goal in 135:00 as the Lions recorded their sixth shutout of the season...made  two saves in 90 minutes in the 1-0 shutout win over No. 22 West Texas A&M...played the final 45 minutes of the Lions' 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico...

Texas Woman's
TWU had mixed results on their road trip last week, losing 2-0 at West Texas A&M but rebounding to defeat Eastern New Mexico by a 4-0 score. The split was nothing new for the Pioneers, as they have alternated wins and losses for their last ten games in a row. TWU will play two critical LSC games on their home field this weekend, hosting Angelo State on Friday, Oct. 24, and Abilene Christian on Sunday, Oct. 26... Chastity Hayter netted the game-winning goal for the Pioneers' in their road win at Eastern New Mexico last Sunday. The goal was Hayter's TWU team-high sixth of the season. She also continues to lead the Pioneers this season in shots (54) and shots on goal (28)... Aly Vincent-Evans recorded her eighth victory of the year in the Pioneers' shutout win at Eastern New Mexico. Vincent-Evans is having another excellent season for the Pioneers, as evidenced by her 1.33 GAA and .800 save percentage... Alyssa Bustamante has emerged as one of the best first-year players in the entire Lone Star Conference. The Plano, Texas native has played in all 14 (and started 11) of the Pioneers' games this season. Her effective defensive play was a primary reason that TWU limited West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico to 18 combined shots last weekend...
