Tarleton State wins LSC women's golf championship

Tarleton State led from start to finish en route to its third Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championship as play ended at WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla.

The TexAnns clinched back-to-back titles with a 4-over par 292 in the second round.  Andrea Lowe led the winning effort while finishing tied for second at even par (144).

Carla Cooper (T-4th), Katy Ward (T-6th), Melanie Tham (8th) and Candice Brister (T-9th) placed in the top-10 as the TexAnns carded a 9-over 585 (293-292).

Central Oklahoma junior Cassy Knight was the medalist at 1-under (143) after recording an even par final round.  Right behind her was Lowe and Angelo State's Raelyn Smith at even par over 36 holes.

Knight, Lowe, Smith, Cooper and West Texas A&M's Hammerli Sriyai earned all-tournament honors by virtue of placing in the top five.

NSU finished second in the team standings with a team total of 606, while West Texas A&M was third with a 608 followed by UCO (613) and first-year program ASU (614).
