Abilene Christian’s Jaclyn Walker was named Lone Star
Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year as the annual
awards were announced by league officials on Thursday.
Walker was selected as the women’s top
player, while also earning All-LSC honors for her singles and
doubles play.
The all-conference honors were voted upon by the
head coaches at each LSC member institution for just the third time
in 2010. Previously, the results of the LSC Individual
Championships Tournament determined the team.
East Central’s Nilsa Ramirez was tabbed
Sportsmanship Player of the Year, while Cameron’s Amanda
Moberg picked up Freshman of the Year acclaim. Midwestern
State’s Leah Roberts earned Newcomer of the Year honors and
Tarleton State’s Lance Drake collected Coach of the Year
recognition for the second straight year.
A total of 31 student-athletes from seven member
institutions were recognized through the LSC’s all-conference
program.
