Field set for LSC Baseball Championship

The top six Lone Star Conference baseball teams will meet in Abilene, Texas, next weekend for the annual LSC Baseball Championship.

      The tournament features six teams for the fifth straight year.  The double-elimination event begins on Saturday and concludes on Tuesday with the championship game set for 1 p.m.  All games will take place at Crutcher Scott Field on the campus of Abilene Christian University.

      LSC regular season champion ACU is the top seed, while Southeastern Oklahoma is the No. 2 seed.  Cameron is seeded third, followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville at No. 4, Angelo State at No. 5 and Tarleton State at No. 6.

      The championship starts Saturday at 11 a.m. with TAMUK facing CU.  ASU will take on SE at 3 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. with Tarleton against host ACU.

      All the championship games will be aired live via internet video streaming here.  The webcasts are available free of charge.  Each webcast includes both video and audio, with viewers needing only a computer with a high-speed DSL or cable modem connection to the internet. 

      Tickets can be purchased online here or over the phone at 325-674-6853 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday (April 26) through Thursday, April 29, and on Friday, April 30, between 9 a.m. and noon.  Tickets purchased online or on the phone can be picked up at the will call window at Crutcher Scott Field.  No one will be admitted into the stadium without a ticket, and no passes will be accepted. All children age 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.

Sunday, May 2
Game 4 – Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 11 a.m.
Game 5 – Winner Game 1 vs. Loser Game 3, 3 p.m.
Game 6 – Winner Game 2 vs. Winner Game 3, 7 p.m.

If four teams remain after Game 6, the following schedule will be followed:
Monday, May 3
Game 7 – Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6, 11 a.m.
Game 8 – Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 6, 3 p.m.
Game 9 – Winner Game 8 vs. Loser Game 7, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, May 4
Game 10 – Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 9, 1 p.m.
Game 11 – If necessary, same teams as in Game 10, 5 p.m.

If five teams remain after Game 6 and two after Game 9, the following procedure will be observed:
Monday, May 3
Game 7 ¬– Loser Game 5 vs. Loser Game 6, 11 a.m.
Game 8 – Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 4, 3 p.m.
Game 9 – Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 6, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, May 4
Game 10 – Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 8, 1 p.m.
Game 11 – If necessary, same teams as in Game 10, 5 p.m.
