Tarleton State won its fourth straight regional title on
Tuesday, claiming the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Super
West Regional 4 championship by an impressive 30 strokes at Tascosa
Country Club in Amarillo, Texas..
The TexAnns carded a three-round score of 58
over-par (310-302-310=922) to win their eighth tournament this
year, which is the most at the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA
levels and ties the record for consecutive regional crowns (Rollins
2003-06).
Angelo State’s Raelyn Smith also earned a
spot in the championship field, by virtue of being one of the top
three individuals who are not part of the advancing teams.
Smith posted a three-day total 234 to finish eighth at 18-over.

NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships May 12-15, at Longbow
Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
The TexAnns placed three individuals in the top six
with Jacqueline Lau leading the charge amid a final round 76 and
three-day total of 228 to place tied for second at 12-over.
Melanie Tham finished right behind her in fourth place at 13-over
229, while Carla Cooper was sixth at 15-over 231.
Tarleton has finished fifth, fifth and sixth in
their last three trips to the national championships.
West Texas A&M finished fourth by two strokes,
to just miss a second-straight trip to nationals (323-324-309=956),
while ASU was sixth and Northeastern State ninth in the team
standings.
