West Texas A&M’s Dylan Doss and Midwestern State’s Cara Mack earned top honors Friday when Lone Star Conference officials announced the league's cross country all-academic awards.
Doss was tabbed the LSC Men's Academic Runner of the Year, while Mack was tabbed LSC Women's Academic Runner of the Year. Both were voted to the LSC All-Academic team, which recognized 11 runners -- six men and five women -- for both academic and athletic achievement. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. The All-Academic teams are voted upon by the league's sports information directors.
Joining Doss on the men's All-Academic team was Texas A&M-Commerce’s Alex Kimp, Abilene Christian’s Gary Duncan and Erik Forrister, Angelo State’s Dylan Littljohn and Tarleton State’s Tye Doty.
Along with Mack, on the women's All-Academic team was Mustang teammates Ashley Flores and Janel Campbell, A&M-C’s Caroline Cotsakis and ACU’s Alyse Goldsmith.
All the runners will compete in the LSC Cross Country Championships this Saturday, October 20, in Lawton, Okla.
