Lone Star Conference Champion West Texas A&M had six total selections on the All-LSC women’s soccer team announced Wednesday evening during the championship banquet in Canyon, Texas.
WTAMU had two first-team picks, one second-teamer and three honorable mention choices. Incarnate Word had seven honorees with three first-teamers, a trio on the second-team and one honorable mention pick.
Midwestern State, Abilene Christian and Texas Woman’s each had six honorees, while Angelo State had five. Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce both added two.
The Lady Buffs claimed a pair of individual awards with Offensive Player of the Year Leslie Briggs and Coach of the Year Chad Webb.
The Cardinals took home two special awards with Defensive Player of the Year Sarah Parker and Newcomer of the Year Katie Miller.
ASU’s Danielle Edwards was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Year, while MSU’s Ashley Cottrell was named Freshman of the Year.
The first team included UIW’s Parker, Sydney Solomon and Amber Guenther, MSU’s Hanna Staley, Cottrell and Payton Fookes, WTAMU’s Becky Peth and Briggs, ASU’s Lauren Carnes and Edwards, ACU’s Julie Coppedge, TWU’s Brittany Martin and A&M-C’s Eva Brutto.
Overall, 40 student-athletes were recognized with the all-conference honors program, including at least one player from all eight women’s soccer teams in the league.
